Yet another new 4WD arrived in Australia this week in the shape of the Kia Sorento.
There is just one model: a 3.5-litre V6 automatic, priced at $37,950. The 145kW V6 is borrowed from the Hyundai Terracan, as is the transmission. A diesel model will arrive later in the year.
Standard features include anti-lock brakes, switchable 4WD with low range, cruise control, air-conditioning, speed sensitive power steering, remote central locking, alloy wheels, cargo blind, cargo net and eight-speaker audio with CD player.
Options include leather upholstery ($1800) and sunroof ($1000).
A revised Mercedes-Benz S Class flagship has arrived with a subtle but significant mid-life massage. Cosmetic changes to nose, tail and interior accompany a new 3.7-litre V6 in the S350 (a new model replacing the S320) and a raft of new safety technology.
The S600 gets a powerful twin turbo V12 producing 368kW and 800Nm. For the first time there is a high-performance AMG variant, the S55AMG.
Prices are slightly higher, now ranging from $175,900 to $349,900.
Audi's TT coupe and convertible (see story at right) have an automatic transmission option - a six-speed tiptronic. Prices are $74,100 and $80,900 respectively.
